Day 2: An Egg-cellent Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all fathers out there!! Our day started off going with Bible Study and Worship at Grace Lutheran. Bible study focused on I AM...(a mouse, a bathtub, a panther, awake) Seeing worship in a new church and in a different setting was refreshing as it gave us a new perspective on different ways to praise the LORD. The service was upbeat and the treats afterwards were just as good. Soon thereafter we undertook the task of completing all needed decorations for the incoming children tomorrow.

The days work ended with an outstanding cook out at the Ellermanns home. Good eats. Good games. Gentlemen dominated the lady foxes in a rousing game of volleyball. The event ended with an "eggtastic" event with Mr. C. (view video evidence below) We spent the rest of the night wandering about in D.C. flashing pictures of many memorable monuments.

Day 1: Smooth Landing

After an early departure from St. Paul, our mission group enjoyed an easy ride to Washington D.C...for the most part. Upon arrival we made first contact with Grace Lutheran Church through one of its members: Mrs. Crain. She kindly gave us a ride to Grace, and, after a short tour, we were immediately fed and put to work, working with crafts and construction paper to prepare the building for hundreds of arriving kids. Moving wood and other objects outside was especially interesting with the sweltering humidity, although the humid climate was easily overshadowed by the incredible monuments we were able to witness during a spot of free time after working hours, most notably the Jefferson Monument. Check out the pictures below for an idea of our first day in D.C. Thanks for your prayers.

I Will Be With You

For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. - Isaiah 41:13

In the past couple of months, I have sent out alot of information about our trip. The flight times. What to bring. What NOT to bring. Contact Numbers. The list could go on and on. However, none of those things are a sure thing. Our flight could be delayed. We could pack twice - or three times - the amount of actually clothes and supplies you will need. The person you are trying to contact may not answer their phone. But we know one thing is sure as we leave tomorrow for Virginia. Our God will go with us!!

And that God who will be with us is the one of whom we will share once we are down there. I look forward to this trip. I am excited to share it experiences with all of you. I am excited about seeing another church, and how they do things. God will go with us, and bless us. See you all tomorrow!!

Getting Excited?!

Welcome to our new blog where we will be posting updates for our Mission Trip this summer to Virginia. Can you believe that it is less than two weeks away. On this site, you will be able to find pictures and updates during our trip. Notice the title of the blog: Living Our Savior! That is our goal in Virginia to display and share the love of our Savior. The teens on the trip will be doing most of the posting on this blog during the trip.

Here is the church that we will be helping. No, it isn't Peace Lutheran Church in St. Louis, VA!! It is Grace Lutheran in Fall Church, Virginia. More information about there church can be found here. We pray that God will bless this trip, and use us as a blessing to His kingdom.
