Day 1: Smooth Landing

After an early departure from St. Paul, our mission group enjoyed an easy ride to Washington D.C...for the most part. Upon arrival we made first contact with Grace Lutheran Church through one of its members: Mrs. Crain. She kindly gave us a ride to Grace, and, after a short tour, we were immediately fed and put to work, working with crafts and construction paper to prepare the building for hundreds of arriving kids. Moving wood and other objects outside was especially interesting with the sweltering humidity, although the humid climate was easily overshadowed by the incredible monuments we were able to witness during a spot of free time after working hours, most notably the Jefferson Monument. Check out the pictures below for an idea of our first day in D.C. Thanks for your prayers.
